Cold front arrives with showers this evening, all tricks-no treats on Halloween —

Moisture is surging into the Ozarks, clouds and dew points are increasing on a steady south wind.

We’ll spend all day ahead of a cold front, squeezing out one more warm day across the Ozarks. Expect mostly cloudy skies with breezy south winds. Southerly winds could gust to 30 mph at times. Highs pop into the upper 60’s, lower 70’s– above average one more day.

Showers start to develop along the cold front this evening up to the northwest. We could see a couple of showers/ thunder as early as 5 PM to the northwest of Springfield, with the line of showers/ thunder approaching the Springfield Metro by 7 PM this evening.

We’ll keep showers/ thunder lingering through the overnight as the cold front slowly makes its way east by daybreak. Lows will be around 50 degrees under thick clouds and rain.

The cold front hangs to the southeast tomorrow afternoon, allowing an upper-level low-pressure center to slide in behind the front. This will generate more scattered showers, especially to the southeast of I-44. There, rounds of rain could drop a few totals approaching 1″+.

This means, there could be a few showers for Trick-or-Treaters on Wednesday evening. Kiddos will want to bundle for temperatures in the 40’s, check the KOLR10 Weather App for showers!

Highs on Wednesday will be much cooler behind the front with highs in the 50’s.

This system will be slow to exit on Thursday with showers lingering early, highs in the 50’s.

By Friday a clipper, or weak low-pressure center that will track through the Great Lakes, could nip the Ozarks, bringing a quick hitting round of showers with highs in the 50’s.

Saturday looks dry, but another clipper will bring the chance of showers on Sunday. Highs in the 50’s both days.

Showers could linger into Monday.
