Trial set for women accused in infant death

MISSOURI – A trial date has been set for the women accused in the death of an infant at an unlicensed in-home daycare in 2017 and now there’s an end in sight.

Brynlee’s mother, Kaleigh Cole, said a trial is set for February of 2020.

Daycare owner Cheri Beason and her daughter Danielle Gerdes both face 34 counts of endangering the welfare of a child and child abuse or neglect after court documents showed Gerdes cared for 25 children by herself the day 4-month-old Brynlee died in her care.

Unlicensed daycares are legal in Missouri, though, only four unrelated kids can be legally cared for at one time.
