SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A trial date has been set for November 2018 for a Springfield woman charged with the crowbar killing of her boyfriend.

Jeannette L. Riddle, 47, is to go on trial on Nov. 9 on a charge of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Michael C. Butts, 44. He was found dead on Feb. 2, 2017, at the home the shared in the 800 block of South New Street

A probable cause statement filed in the case accuses Riddle of hitting Butts in the head several times with a crowbar. After that, Riddle then tried to kill herself by taking prescriptions drugs and slitting her wrists. She was taken to a Springfield hospital for treatment and later jailed on the murder charges.

Riddle is next scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial conference on April 30. She remains in custody at the Greene County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.
