Tornadoes confirmed in Carl Junction, Oronogo

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — Two tornadoes have been confirmed in Carl Junction and Oronogo.

Carl Junction experienced an EF-3 tornado with winds around 140 miles per hour. 

The tornado was on the ground for nine miles and was a quarter mile wide.

Oronogo’s tornado was smaller, ranked as an EF-0 tornado with approximately 81 miles per hour winds.

This tornado was on the ground for eight miles and was 200 yards wide.

A tornado is ranked by the Fujita Scale, which goes all the way up to an EF-5 with wind speeds between 261-318 miles per hour.
