A new CDC report shows nearly 2.3 three million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis were diagnosed in the US last year.
But Dr. Gail Bolan, head of the CDC’s Division of Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention,
after decades of decline in STDs, in recent years we have been sliding backwards .
“Most cases go undiagnosed so they go untreated. These diseases can lead to infertility, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, and increased HIV risk,” Bolin . says.
Smoking and drinking as a teenager could increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke later in life.
Researchers in London found the combination of alcohol and smoke can damage arteries by age 17 which can lead to heart problems.
But they also found that if teenagers stopped smoking and drinking…. Their arteries can return to normal.
