SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Kids are chomping at the bit to get out and Trick-or-Treat.
Dietitians, however, want to make sure parents are aware of some key tips to make sure their children do not over consume candy this Halloween.
Katie Thorner, a registered dietitian, says, “I really encourage kids to trick-or-treat on a full stomach so that they aren’t feeling like they need to eat their way through the trick-or-treating because they are hungry, and then getting to enjoy a couple pieces.”
Some other tricks include the witch switch where kids can trade in their candy haul for something from mom and dad as well as building other Halloween traditions that do not revolve around candy.
