Spring temperatures today came with a few spotty showers and isolated thunderstorms. There were enough breaks in the clouds to send temperatures into the low to mid-70s in many locations. The pattern will remain mild through Friday, but keep the umbrellas handy with a few more waves of rain to move through.
For tonight, we’ll find scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms moving through the area. The higher chances for rain will be this evening as a weak upper-level storm moves through. Widely scattered showers will likely linger through the rest of the night though. Temperatures will only cool into the 50s.
Friday looks a lot like today with mostly cloudy skies and a few spotty showers and isolated thunderstorms during the day. The best chances for rain appear to be early in the day and then again by late afternoon. It looks like there will be a lull in rain chances during the middle of the day that may come with some breaks in the clouds. If we can manage a few peeks of sun then temperatures will warm into the mid to upper 60s north to low 70s south.
A front will finally get a push through the area late Friday night. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop near and behind the front. Instability still appears to be lacking, but there will be plenty of wind energy to organize storms. With that, it looks like we can expect frequent lightning and some hail in the stronger storms. We’ll have to keep an eye on instability levels, if they go higher than expected, severe weather chances will go up over Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas.
The risk for showers will linger into Saturday morning with much colder air pouring in by sunrise. Temperatures will likely fall through the 40s during the morning and then hold steady in the 40s throughout the afternoon under mostly cloudy skies.
Skies will clear Saturday night opening the door to freezing temperatures by Sunday morning with lows in the upper 20s. A chilly day and bright day will follow with highs near 50°.
A storm will pass by to the south on Monday, slinging a lot of high cloudiness our way. This will make for a partly sunny and chilly day. Morning lows will be in the upper 20s with highs in the low 50s.
Warmer weather will follow Tuesday through Thursday. Sunny skies Tuesday will give way to increasing clouds Wednesday and Thursday with a chance for showers returning by Thursday afternoon as the next storm approaches. Temperatures will generally be in the 60s, but 70° isn’t out of the question Wednesday and Thursday.
