Teen Sustains Multiple Injuries During Resisted Arrest by AR Police

FARMINGTON, Ark. — A mother is fighting back after her 15-year-old son’s arrest led to multiple injuries.

Last weekend a Farmington police officer made a stop at a gas station.

Once inside he saw 15-year-old Ashton Fillmore and his friend who filmed this video.

The officer noticed the teen had a pipe and tried to detain him.

Farmington police say there was resistance once the officer tried to put handcuffs on.

But Ashton’s mom says this type of action against an unarmed minor is too aggressive.

“There’s no excuse for my son as far as breaking the law, and having the paraphernalia on him,” said Micaela Fillmore-Stephens, Ashton’s mother. “This what a violent apprehension on a misdemeanor citation charge. And it shouldn’t be allowed.”

Ashton says the arrest left him with injuries to his shoulder and back and a broken front tooth.

His family says they will be suing.

The officer did have a body camera. However, it won’t be released until the investigation is over.
