A beautiful weekend came to a close on a sunny, mild note. Temperatures hit 60° in Springfield as the January Thaw continues across the region.
The thaw will be put to the test on Monday as a shot of cold moves into the Ozarks overnight. This will make for a sharply colder start to our work week with morning lows in the low to mid 20s and afternoon highs only in the 30s, despite sunny skies.
The cold will be short-lived with milder air surging back into the area on Tuesday. This will come with breezy southerly winds and sunshine, and highs near 50°. Low 60s will follow on Wednesday. Winds will pick up too with windy conditions expected.
Another shot of cold will move in on Thursday. Temperatures will be sharply colder, and there’s still a signal for rain showers changing to snow showers as colder air move in, mainly south of I-44.
Friday looks sunny and cold with highs near 40. The cold will moderate over the weekend, but cold air will be lurking nearby and may surge in again on Sunday.
