News

BELLA VISTA, Ar.– Crews from three states are working to put out the trafalgar road fire also known as the stump dump fire for good.

On Saturday crews from Little Rock,Texas and  Mississippi started work on the fire.

The Bella Vista Property Owners Association took over the project in early May and  C-O-O Tom Judson says it should take about 30 days to put out the fire.

Judson said, “What they’ll be doing is removing the material and putting the material in burn trenches and then they incinerate that.”

The site will be kept wet as a way to reduce the amount of particles that leave the site.

George Malvaney with E3 Environmental also says no water will leave the siteso runoff rain will not contaminate nearby lakes.

Malvaney said,  “We pick the water back up with pumps, have a series of pumps picking it back up and we’re pumping it back onto the fire.”
