Stolen Car Chase Ends With Two in Custody

News

GREENE COUNTY, Mo – Two people were arrested by Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies after stealing a car in Springfield Friday.

A friend of the owner of the stolen vehicle was driving by the residence when she noticed a white male and female stealing a vehicle and called 911. When the homeowner arrived, the two struck the owner with the stolen car. The friend, watching the incident fired a shot in the air without harm.

Deputies then located the stolen vehicle and lost it in Springfield’s city limits to later find it wrecked after hitting a tree. The woman was arrested after she was found hiding behind a house near High Street and Franklin Avenue. The man was tracked with a K-9 and arrested after he was found hiding in a shed behind a house on North Franklin Avenue.

“The quick response of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Springfield Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and concerned citizens is what teamwork is all about, working together to apprehend those who pose a danger to our community,” Sheriff Jim Arnott said.
