State Auditor Releases Report on Educational Finance Data

News

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway released a new report on Missouri’s K-12 educational financial data.

A few key points of the review found inconsistencies in the way spending is recorded across school districts.

Which includes categorizing similar costs in different areas.

The audit also found superintendent salaries have increased by 31 percent, while teacher salaries increased by only 22 percent over a 12 year period.

The report advised the Department of Education to report more administrator compensation because much of the data was incomplete or inaccurate.

Also today Galloway proposed a bill the could safeguard student’s sensitive information.
The bill would require schools to notify parents in the event of a data breach.
