SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Springfield man won $100,000 from a Missouri Lottery scratcher just before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Gary Highton won the money from a “$1,000,000 Fortune” scratcher ticket.

“Every number I scratched was winning $5,000,” said Highton, meaning the 20 prize spots on the ticket.

“I thought, ‘No, this can’t be right,” Highton said.

He even asked his family to check the ticket.
As soon as his family confirmed it was a winning ticket, Highton was off to the Lottery offices in Springfield.

“I never win anything, so this is a major surprise,” Highton said. “I am going to pay off bills and get out of debt.”

The winning ticket was purchased on Nov. 22 at Price Cutter at 3260 E Battlefield Road, in Springfield.

The “$1,000,000 Fortune” ticket is a $10 scratcher game which began on July 31. The game has $24 million in remaining prizes, including two top prizes of $1 million.
