SPRINGFIELD, Mo — A flight from Springfield to Atlanta caused a stir Sunday morning when the airline blew a compressor upon takeoff.
According to the spokesperson of Springfield-Branson National Airport, Kent Boyd, Delta flight 1445 blew a compressor just after the plane left the ground at approximately 6:15 a.m.
The pilot diverted the MD-88 aircraft back to Springfield and landed safely.
Boyd states that when a compressor blows, it “makes a very loud noise” and most residents in the vicinity of the airport – especially those around Willard – would have heard the overhead commotion.
No one aboard the flight suffered injuries.
