SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Over 100 local business owners and managers are learning more about the policies surrounding medical marijuana.

“As a provider of healthcare services, you know, people are always looking for something to help them feel better,” said Andrea Graddy of the Ozzie Smith IMAC Regeneration Center. “The more we know about things that are available for patients, the better we can serve our patients, and also the employers we work with to treat their injured workers.”

Graddy’s company also helps employers with pre-employment screening.

One reason she said knowing the legalities surrounding this hot topic will help her team better serve their clients.

Keynote speaker and V.P. Communications for CompAlliance, Linda Van Dillen said it’s important for all businesses to have a solid understanding of marijuana.

Which includes knowing some of the common misconceptions and myths.

“People think that medical marijuana and recreational marijuana are different, but, they are no standards for medical marijuana right now, there’s no purity standards, etc,” said Van Dillen.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 30 states, The District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam currently have laws broadly legalizing marijuana in some form.
