SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — With the turkey leftovers just about gone, efforts to help Springfield-area families through the Christmas holiday have begun.
The Salvation Army of Springfield and Crosslines today (Mon., Nov. 28, 2016) both begin taking applications for Christmas assistance for families in need in Greene and Christian Counties.
The Salvation Army program helps provide food, toys and winter accessories for individuals and families who meet income guidelines.
People seeking assistance should apply in-person at The Salvation Army located at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway. You must bring a picture ID, social security card for each member of their household, and proof of residency, such as a piece of mail within the last 30 days.
Applications will be taken Monday, November 28 through Friday, December 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.
On Monday, November 28, and Monday, December 5, applications will be accepted from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in addition to the daytime hours.
On Saturday, December 3 applications will be taken from 10:00a.m. to 1:00p.m.
Crosslines will accept applications November 28-December 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Crosslines Community Resource Center, 615 N. Glenstone.
Applications will also be taken Thursday, December 1 from 3pm to 7pm and Saturday, December 3 from 9am to 1:30 pm.
