Senior Farmer’s market events beginning soon

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Wednesday kicked off a new voucher system for seniors to purchase locally grown food.

Seniors who qualify for the program would be able to purchase food from farmer’s markets.

This is the product of a State bill that was signed into law last year.

To qualify for the Missouri senior farmers’ market nutrition program, people must be 60 or older and be residents of Missouri.

Each person who signs up would get ten 5 dollar vouchers, which they can spend on items like fresh fruits, vegetables, and local honey.

If you or someone you know want to sign up, go to the Farmer’s Market in Springfield, at the Battlefield Mall on Saturday mornings.
