SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A National Guard facility expansion will save the Federal Government millions of dollars a year.
Senator Roy Blunt stopped by the aviation repair hangar called ‘AVCRAD’ in Northwest Springfield.
A new building was named in his honor.
The expansion means 200 more jobs coming to the Ozarks.
Blunt also highlighted the cost savings of the new hangar which has a budget of around 30 million dollars.
However, the work done at AVCRAD will save 40 million dollars in costs in the first year alone.
Soldiers repair broken helicopter parts at a fraction of the cost to buy it new.
Once completed in the fall of 2020, AVCRAD will be saving the government over 200 million dollars a year.
