Senator Roy Blunt toured Atchison and Holt counties to survey flood damage today.
After receiving briefings from the US Army Corps of Engineers and county officials, Blunt said a plan needs to be looked at for northwest Missouri
He also said the most immediate need is to rebuild levees and move forward on other recovery efforts and that he will continue working with the state to make sure federal support is available.
Blunt was in Springfield this evening and spoke about the flooding to our north.
“If you’re the people I work for there, you’re beginning to wonder why can’t we get this right. So we are doing a better job for preparing for flood,” Blunt said. “The truth is, you don’t control the rain.”
