JASPER COUNTY, Mo- The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the male found inside a burning car in rural Jasper County.

The man has been identified as 34-year-old Billy D. Stevens of Webb City.

Stevens was the suspect in an earlier death investigation at an in-home residential care facility, where he shot and killed Monte L. Little Jr., 19, of Webb City.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says the cause of death was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A witness stated he heard a gunshot inside the vehicle and then heard the engine revved loudly and subsequently, flames emerged from the vehicle.
