SEARCY COUNTY, Ark. — An 80-year-old man died Sunday morning when the shop building he was working in caught fire.

Searcy County Sheriff Joey Pruitt says it happened just after 11:00 a.m. in the small community of Landis, located east of Marshall. The deceased has been identified as 80-year-old Robert (Bob) Colgan.

Colgan’s wife discovered the fire when she heard popping sounds coming from the shop building which is located next to couple’s home.

Fire Departments from Marshall, Landis and Morning Star responded; when they arrived the building was already engulfed in flames.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
