BRANSON, Mo. — Silver Dollar City officials Wednesday took the wraps off a closely held secret, unveiling the new Time Traveler roller coaster, which will open in the spring of 2018.

The announcement was made before local media and national travel and entertainment journalists.

The double, complete circuit coaster will travel at speeds up to 50 miles per hour and take riders on a 90-degree plunge after climbing 10 stories.

Brad Thomas, president of Silver Dollar City Attractions, says the spinning coaster will also turn riders upside down three times.  And it will launch at 0-47 mph in 3 seconds.

The announcement was made Wednesday, specifically, because August 16 is National Roller Coaster Day, marking the anniversary of the first patent of the first roller coaster.

This project is two years in the making – and is the largest themed investment ever for Silver Dollar City, Thomas said.
