SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Salvation Army announced Tuesday they are opening up their extreme cold shelters due to extremely cold temperatures.

Jeff Smith with the Salvation Army says their shelters will open Tuesday night until January 31st to assist the other shelters in town with overflow.

Men and women without minor children at Harbor House located at 636 North Booneville in Springfield.

Individuals with minor children, under the age of 18, can find shelter at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway with check-in occurring at Family Enrichment Center. Individuals with children may also come to this location during the daytime hours as well to get in from the cold.

An evening meal and breakfast will be provided at both locations.

A picture ID will be required to stay overnight as there will be a Sex Offender Background Check.
