SPRINGFIELD, Mo.–It’s that time of year when KOLR10 teams up with the Salvation Army to kick off Bucket Blitz at Bass Pro Shops and this year the organization is especially in need of your help.
Salvation Army is trying to raise $1 million dollars this holiday season to help families for Christmas.
They’ve raised 30% of their goal at $300,000.
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” says Maj. Butch Frost of the Salvation Army,
Or the worst time of year if you’re a parent who can’t afford to buy gifts for your children. That’s why the Salvation Army is around to help.
“The most exciting part is every family gets to come through,” says Maj. Frost.
On December 21st, moms and dads who have signed up can pick up toys for their kiddos to unwrap on Christmas.
“We don’t allow the kids to come through because it’s supposed to be a day for them,” says Maj. Frost.
A day that’s made possible through generous donations except this year the demand is high.
“The numbers up and continues to grow,” says Maj. Frost.
But the supply is low.
“Donations are actually down this year, down as far as toys and even the donations as far as financially we’re a little slow as well,” says Maj. Frost.
Here’s what you can do to put the merry in Christmas for families around the Ozarks.
“They can all make a donation. Next week they’ll be able to stop by and out in front of Bass Pro Shops and make a donation there as well,” says Maj. Frost.
Bucket Blitz at Bass Pro Shops begins Monday and runs through Thursday from 6am to 6pm daily.
