The Royals were done in by one bad inning in the field and the offense couldn’t solve Baltimore’s best pitcher.  Kansas City was swept with a 4-0 final on Wednesday night.

The club’s losing streak is a seven, the longest since August of 2013.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth, when the Orioles did all their damage against Royals starter Edinson Volquez.  He gave up four runs over 4.2 innings, allowing four hits and a pair of walks. Ryan Flaherty’s two-run double keyed the rally.

Baltimore’s Chris Tillman struck out nine in picking up his eighth win of the season.  The Royals outhit the O’s 9-4.

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the Royals in a funk like this.  Fans may be discouraged, frustrated or concerned.  Manager Ned Yost is doing his best to weather the storm.

“I try not to get frustrated. I know these guys are trying. We’re just not being very productive right now,” Royals manager Ned Yost said.  “You just got to keep working. Frustrating doesn’t do you any good.”
