Robert Pattinson is in negotiations to play the next Batman in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman”.
Though the deal has not been finalized just yet, fans have had mixed reviews in Reeves’ choice for the caped crusader – which is slated to hit theaters June 25, 2021.
Some fans have already started a petition to have the Twilight star not play the next Dark Knight, while others have praised his more recent work such as “Good Time” and “Cosmopolis” and are excited about his take.
Reeves, the director behind the last two “Planet of the Apes” sequels, took over directing duties from Ben Affleck in 2017. Warner Bros decided not to continue with the shared DC Extended Universe following “Justice League” and has since then focused on solo films such as “Aquaman,” “Shazam” and the Wonder Woman sequel. Reeves was given his choice of a new Bruce Wayne for his solo film.
Pattinson has a total of four films coming this year and is also slated to be in Christopher Nolan’s next film, set to open July 17, 2020.
