SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A retired professor shared with MSU students how the pornography industry is hurting society
Professor Robert Jensen studied the industry for 30 years and said our pop-culture has become more pornographic.
He says people can do two things to affect the industry’s popularity.
“Parents to have open and honest conversations with children about sexuality and to make pornography part of that,” Jensen said. “I think schools should be doing pornography education.”
Tommy Keehl, a sophomore at MSU, agrees with the retired professor.
“If I were taught the ethics in school of this, of this subject I feel like it would definitely change the mind of some kids.” Keehl said.
Keehl feels more people should know about pornography’s sexist themes.
“If a lot of people knew that pornography actually develops these things – that makes you objectifying towards women then they would stop watching it,” said Keehl.
Jensen will be talking about the ethics of pornography tomorrow morning at the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
