Rams Fans Burn Jerseys in Outrage

News

ST. LOUIS  – Former St. Louis Rams fans are still feeling the burn from franchise owner Stan Kroenke. Some of those fans brought their Rams gear to Pepper’s Grill and Bar in south St. Louis Thursday.

They dropped t-shirts, jerseys, and hats into a parking lot bonfire.

“They knew they were going to move from St. Louis, and we had no chance to keep them here,” said former Rams fan Bob Droete. He was the first person to drop a shirt into the fire.

Pepper’s manager John Kilker said anyone wanting to burn an item on Thursday was also asked to donate money or clothing to a charity.

Meanwhile, the owner of Crown Candy Kitchen is offering fans a chance to donate their Rams gear at his shop, and receive free chocolate in exchange. Andy Karandzieff plans on donating the items to a yet to be determined charity. The offer will run through Monday.

“I’ve been a season ticket holder since day one,” he said. “I sat through a lot of great football and a lot of really bad football.”

Karandzieff hopes fans can put the loss of the Rams in perspective.

“If that’s the worst thing in my life, I’ve got a pretty good life,” he said.
