Pulaski County Woman Stabs Children, Then Herself

PULASKI COUNTY, Mo. — A woman from Pulaski County has died after stabbing two children and herself with a butcher knife dozens of times.

A media release from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department said a call for help around 2:45 p.m. this afternoon revealed multiple individuals had been stabbed at the 25300 Block of Highway W, a few miles west of Waynesville.

Deputies discovered the gruesome scene to find a conscious woman, 37-year-old Yvonne Holmes, with dozens of stab wounds laying in the front yard of the residence. Holmes died just moments after the deputies’ arrival.

The release explains the children, ages two and 12, suffered numerous knife wounds and are in serious condition at a trauma center.

Another victim, a 38-year-old man, was stabbed while protecting the children but was released from care with minor injuries.

Witnesses report Holmes was visiting the children at the residence. Holmes became delusional, grabbed a butcher knife, and proceeded to stab the victims. The aforementioned man intervened which in turn saved the children.

Holmes then ran outside to the front yard and stabbed herself with the butcher knife dozens of times until she died.
