SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Some of the big issues this election cycle include the Springfield Public Schools bond issue, the Republic sales tax, and the Lawrence County 9-1-1 question.
Springfield Public Schools’ proposition S would fund 39 projects identified by a citizen task force. If passed the proposed bond could begin immediately.
Over in Republic, voters are being asked to decide whether or not to add a 1% sales tax for public safety. The tax would be used to hire more police officers and firefighters.
Finally, in Lawrence county, voters will decide on a 9-1-1 tax increase that officials deem necessary in order to keep emergency services “enhanced”.
Early reports from the Greene County Clerk show a 4.16% in voter turn out so far today, with that number expected to increase as the polls remain open.
