SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Police are searching for a suspect who heavily damaged a patrol car.

This happened near the gas station at Grand and Kansas Expressway around 3:30 Thursday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for the department says officers were trying to arrest Nicholas Scalf, 39, who has several warrants, but he fled.

However, during the commotion, Scalf got into a car, and wrecked into a nearby patrol car.

Officers briefly pursued him, but lost sight of him near Holland and Grand, and thankfully no one was injured

Scalf is believed to be driving a purple or blue Hyundai Santa Fe SUV with a license plate of PR3-U1S.

He is not considered armed and dangerous, but if you see him call police right away.
