UPDATE: The pedestrian that was struck on Highway 13 early this morning has been identified.
According to the MSHP crash report, William Hawkins, 49, of Brighton, stepped out onto the highway and was struck by a semi truck.

EBENEZER, Mo. — A fatal accident early Wednesday morning has killed a pedestrian on Highway 13 north of Springfield.
The Missouri Highway Patrol confirms one person was hit as they crossed the northbound lane of Highway 13 at the Highway WW crossing near Ebenezer.
The Patrol’s Corporal Roger Myers says the person was hit at about 3:55 a.m. this morning and was pronounced dead at 4:19 a.m.
The northbound right lane is closed by the Highway Patrol and traffic is moving slowly. Southbound traffic coming from Bolivar is not impacted.
