Owl rescued from fishing line set to be released back into the wild

News

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — An owl that was rescued from a fishing line just a few weeks ago has recovered and will be released on Friday.

You may remember this little guy – the owl’s wing got caught in fishing line, leaving the owl hanging above the James River.

A snorkeler saw the owl and was able to free him with help from conservation officials.

A Dickerson Park Zoo veterinarian performed a feather transplant and is ready to return the owl to the wild.

That will happen Friday morning at 10 at the Joe Crighton Access.
