OSAGE BEACH, Mo – A woman from Lebanon died over the weekend after a car accident.
According to the Osage Beach Police Department, 40-year-old Jessica J. Jones was driving eastbound on the 6000 block of Osage Beach Parkway when her car crossed the center turn lane and westbound lanes of traffic at about 4:37 p.m. Then continued off the road hitting a guide cable, a billboard, and a tree before coming to rest.
Jones was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The second crash happened on Sunday when officers responded to a careless and imprudent driver.
This incident happened on the 5400 block of Osage Beach Parkway when a driver was going the wrong way in the eastbound lanes.
When officers got to the vehicle at about 11:39 a.m., they noticed it was stopped in the road and as they walked up to it, it began to drive away leading to the scene at the end of Osage Beach Parkway at Lazy Days Road. The driver drove through the barricade, went airborne, flipping the vehicle end over end at which time he struck the guardrail, flipped one more time and landed the vehicle on US Highway 54.
The driver has been identified as 69-year-old James D. Ferguson of Camdenton, authorities believe Ferguson was having a medical issue at the time of the crash. Ferguson was not wearing his seatbelt.
He is at Lake Regional Hospital in serious condition.
