One Dead, One Injured In Carthage Crash

CARTHAGE, Mo. — One man is dead and his passenger seriously hurt, after a car crashes into a tree following a police chase.

Police in Carthage say around 7:00 Thursday night, an officer spotted a 2003 white Buick Regal near the Carthage Recycling Center.

When police ran the plates, the officer noticed the driver had outstanding warrants. So the officer flipped his lights and tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver sped off at a high rate of speed.

The officer was never able to catch up to the car, but did spot it at the intersection County Club Lane and Morgan Heights Road, crashed into a tree.

The driver of the car, Tyler Everett, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, Richard Watson, 27, was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he is believed to be in serious condition and is expected to recover.

Carthage police did bring in the Missouri State Highway Patrol to try and determine what caused the crash..
