Officer shot and killed behind police station in Fayetteville, Arkansas


UPDATE: The officer shot in his patrol vehicle while parked at the police department was identified as Officer Stephen Carr.

According to Fayetteville Arkansas Police Department, evidence shows that Officer Carr was ambushed and executed while sitting in his patrol vehicle.

The name of the two officers who fired at the suspect will not be released. The Chief will be reviewing the findings of the investigation.

Officer Stephen Carr was assigned as a patrol officer currently working in the Dickson Street Entertainment District. Since April 2017, Carr served the community with his dedication and professionalism. He is a hero.

During this tragic time, thoughts and prayers are with Officer Carr’s family.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — One officer and one suspect are dead in a shooting that happened near the Fayetteville Square Saturday night (12/07/19).

At 9:40 p.m. shots were reportedly fired in the back parking lot of the Fayetteville Police Department on Rock Street.

The officer was by his patrol car when he was shot and killed.

Several officers inside the station at the time of the shooting then chased the suspect. The suspect was killed in a nearby alley.

“It appears the suspect executed my officer,” Fayetteville Police Chief Mike Reynolds said. “These are the details as I know.”

Reynolds said he will not release the officer and suspect names at this time.

He said the investigation will reveal more information and there will be more details released soon.
