SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — In a press release posted on the Springfield Cardinals’ website, the Cardinals management said they received a bomb threat on Saturday, May 19.

“The safety of our fans is our highest priority,” the Cardinals management said. “Nothing is more important to us. That is why we have Greene County Sheriffs work every game, conduct thorough bag checks as fans enter the ballpark, and log all packages received.”

After they received the threat, the press release stated they immediately contacted authorities and did what the Greene County Sherriff’s Office told the staff to do.

Currently, the Cardinals management is working with law enforcement to figure out who made the phone call.

“We want to thank all of the local law enforcement and safety personnel who promptly responded to ensure the safety of all of us,” Cardinals management said.
