Noel FD Mourns the Loss of Volunteer Firefighter

NOEL, Mo. – The Noel Fire Department was notified Monday one of its own was killed while battling wildfires in Northern California.

Garrett Paiz, 38, or “Taco”, had only joined the department about a year ago as a paid volunteer, but left a lasting impression on his fire family.

“Garrett was, I mean he lived for the fire service, you know, he was always ready to go to work, you know, hard working guy. He was always just a kind of a pleasant guy to have around, he was always smiling and laughing,” says Chief Brandon Barrett with the Noel Fire Department.

Chief Barrett says a burial service will be held for Paiz in California on the 27th. They hope to also hold a memorial service in Missouri some time after that.
