Nixa Student Selected for Missouri Senate Art Exhibit for Second Year

NIXA, Mo. — A Nixa high school student was selected as a winner of the 2018 Missouri Senate Art Exhibit for the second year in a row.

Julie Mason, the winner in Sen. Jay Wasson’s district, District 20, created a drawing with colored pencils on colored paper, according to a press release from Nixa Public Schools. 

The subject of her drawing is a woman her father photographed in Chad while on a mission trip.

The Senate’s art exhibit showcases fine arts programs from all 34 Senate districts. Wasson chose the winner of his district, according to the press release. The exhibit is located on the grounds of the capitol.

The awards ceremony is on March 12 at 11 a.m. at the Capitol Rotunda.
