New Missouri Law Makes It Easier for Crime Victims and Their Families To Receive Compensation

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – New laws were enacted in Jefferson City to make it easier for crime victims and their families to receive benefits

The Missouri Crime Victims’ Compensation Fund dollars can be used to pay for medical expenses, counseling and funerals for murder victims.

Fines from state and federal offenders are used to pay for the program.

New laws made it easier to request aid, eligibility was expanded, and victims are given more time to request assistance,

892 claims were approved last year, and about $5 million was distributed.
