Neighbors in Springfield Shocked by Friday Morning Shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.–A man is fighting for his life after being in an early morning shooting.

It happened on the 1400 block of North Clay in Springfield. 

Police responded to a 911 call on reports that a man had been shot.

When they arrived, they found a man with multiple gun shot wounds to the upper torso.

The man was transported to Mercy Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The investigation is still in the early stages with no known motive, but police say there was a party going on at the time of the shooting,

Police aren’t releasing the victim’s identity yet and the suspect still hasn’t been identified.

Police say while this isn’t a homicide, they are still investigating it as one because of the victim’s critical condition.

Neighbors tell KOLR10 News they are shocked by Friday morning’s shooting.

“I was really surprised cause it’s super quiet around here. There’s not a lot of activity around here at all,” says neighbor, Hayle Wilson. 

“It’s a pretty quiet neighborhood, for the most part, it’s pretty peaceful, everyone’s very neighborly and gets along real well. I was definitely shocked about it. I was a little too tired to be as shocked as I probably should have been.” “I was really surprised cause it’s super quiet around here. There’s not a lot of activity around here at all,” says neighbor, Gabe Fletchall.

Police say they’ve responded to the home 13 times in the past year.
