Multiple Injuries after Hostage Situation at Tucker Maximum Security Unit

TUCKER, Ark. — Four people were taken to the hospital after a hostage situation at an Arkansas maximum security unit.

Arkansas Department of Correction Spokesperson Solomon Graves said earlier Friday evening, two inmates took two Correctional Officers hostage.

Around 7 p.m., the officers were released with minor injuries. Graves said the officers suffered lacerations and bruising.

Graves said with ‘use of force’, both inmates were taken into custody.

Officials said the inmates and officers were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Graves said the inmates were conscious when leaving the prison but their condition is unknown.

TUCKER, Ark. — Soloman Graves with the Arkansas Department of Corrections released this statement: “Earlier this evening, two correctional officers were taken hostage by two inmates in a housing area at the Maximum Security Unit in Tucker, Arkansas. Additional details will be released as they become available. Emergency Response Teams from the Department of Correction are on scene. The Arkansas State Police has been notified.”
