Mountain Home Arson Suspect in Custody

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark.(Hometown Daily News) – The suspect in the two arson cases out of Baxter County turns himself into authorities.

Sheriff John Montgomery says 42-year-old Mark Mucha is now in custody. He surrendered himself at the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office in Gainesville, Missouri. Mucha faces felony arson charges and will be extradited to Baxter County by way of the normal transfer and extradition process, according to the release.

Authorities believe he set the fires resulting in two homes, which he owned, being completely destroyed on Monday.

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Offices wishes to extend its appreciation to all law enforcement agencies and officers who participated in the search for the suspect.

Mucha will appear in court next week.
