Mother’s Day Celebrations Around Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. As a celebration for all mothers does for us, several restaurants around town organized special buffet brunches earlier today.

KOLR10 visited a couple of restaurants that hosted special mothers day events.

Mothers and their families tell me how they’re celebrating the holiday.

“The best part of being a mom really is when he wakes up and smiles at me, makes everything worth it,” said a mother.

“I couldn’t picture my life without them,” said Julie Pope.

They told KOLR10 the most rewarding parts of being a mother.

“The smiles that are on their faces when you do something nice for them, they appreciate it,” Julie Pope said.

“It didn’t occur to me that it was going to be such a full-time job for so long,” said Teresa Pope, another mother, “I don’t know why I didn’t figure that out, but it was kind of a shock.”

“Being a mom is hard, it really is, but I think it’s the best thing in the world. My life is complete with him,” said a mother.

KOLR10 also spoke to families and kids, asking them what they like most about their mom.

“She takes us to a lot of places, and she’s really fun,” said a girl.

“The best thing about my mom, she’s taught me how to love everyone, include everyone in everything, and just be always extremely accepting of who you are is what I really preach about,” said Micah Pope.

“Sometimes she makes chicken and rice, or smoothies,” said a boy.

“I think maybe whenever she would read me books at night, was maybe like some of my fondest memories of her,” Micah Pope said.

“I would have to say my favorite thing about my mom is she’s been one of the biggest fighters these last couple of years,” said Tara Hamilton, “she is battling cancer, and I couldn’t be more proud of the person she’s been through all of this. She’s keeping her spirits high, and I am so, so happy to be here with her today.”
