Mother Claims Arkansas IHOP Discriminated Against 3-Year-Old Without Arms

HOT SPRINGS, Ar. — An IHOP in Hot Springs, Arkansas will re-train its employees after a mother says the manager discriminated against her son who was born without arms.

3- year-old William doesn’t let his disability stop him from feeding himself on the table with his feet.

William eats the same way when he and his family go out to eat.

His mom, Alexis Bancroft, says the general manager told her he couldn’t sit on the table and touch the syrup containers because it was a health department issue.

“When we got there, I carried him in took him to the bathroom and washed his feet so he could eat,” Bancroft said. “I asked her do you ask all of your customers if they washed their hands before they touch them.”

Bancroft posted her experience on Facebook — it went viral with several servers even telling her they were ashamed of what happened.

The general manager has since apologized.
