Another round of showers today, 2 days of sunshine follow —

Another low-pressure center and the associated cold front is on its way into the Ozarks. Clouds are thick this morning, showers arrive as you head out the door for the western Ozarks, mid-morning in Springfield.

Because we had showers roll through yesterday, and this round is arriving early with cool temperatures, our atmosphere does not have time to rejuvenate/ become strong enough to fuel strong/ severe thunderstorms. The greatest threat for severe weather sits well east in the Tennessee Valley this afternoon. A few rumbles of thunder are possible in the Ozarks.

Showers spread east by dismissal, exit quickly by the evening commute. Rain accumulations will be light, ~0.25-0.5″.

Winds will be breezy out of the south, helping to push temperatures into the middle 50’s despite cloud cover.

Skies clear overnight tonight and temperatures drop into the upper 30’s and lower 40’s.

High pressure will bring mostly sunny skies tomorrow with temperatures around 60 degrees. A north wind will have us cooler on Wednesday, mostly sunny with middle 50’s.

Our next low-pressure center will bring a chance of showers on Thursday with chilly highs in the 40’s. IF rain lingers overnight, a few flakes may be able to mix in before clouds clear. Cold air moves in behind that front and lows drop to at/ below freezing by Friday morning.

The cold air mass settles in the Ozarks on Friday, with highs in the 40’s and lows dropping into the 20’s by Saturday morning, our first hard freeze of the season!
