Snow yesterday, sunshine and highs well into the 70s today. It’s springtime in the Ozarks. The next storm that moves through will bring a risk of strong thunderstorms to the area Wednesday night.
For tonight, we’ll find mostly starry skies. Winds will remain breezy out of the south, keeping temperatures quite a bit milder with lows in the 50s.
Tuesday is shaping up to be even warmer than today with high cloudiness slowly increasing by late afternoon. Winds will be breezy out of the southwest with gusts over 30 mph during the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 70s to around 80°.
Partly cloudy and breezy weather will continue overnight Tuesday with temperatures remaining mild. Humidity values will continue to edge a little higher.
We’ll notice the uptick in humidity Wednesday as a storm to the west continues to draw moisture into the Ozarks. This will prime the area for thunderstorms Wednesday night, but the daytime hours look quiet with highs in the upper 70s.
A strong cap will keep things quiet into the early evening Wednesday night with storms lining up to the northwest and west along a cold front. These storms will shift east overnight with a few storms popping up ahead of the line too. Hail looks possible with storms ahead of the line with some hail and damaging winds a concern with the line as it moves through late Wednesday night. There will also be a risk for isolated tornado development within the line.
Storms will push east of the Ozarks by sunrise. The cold front will usher in much cooler weather with temperatures tumbling into the upper 40s Thursday morning after sunrise. Waves of cloud cover will keep skies mostly cloudy with a few showers possible with temperatures recovering back into the 50s.
There could be some redevelopment of thunderstorm activity along the cold front over South Central Missouri and North Central Arkansas before the front clears those locations Thursday, but the Wednesday night round of storms may take the punch out of the atmosphere.
We’ll wrap up the week with sunshine and cool temperatures on Friday. The cooldown will be short-lived. Warm weather returns in time for the weekend. Saturday looks sunny with highs in the mid-70s and Easter Sunday looks partly sunny with highs close to 80°. Thunderstorm chances return early next week as a new storm takes shape.
