JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Labor announced Monday the state minimum wage rate for 2018 will increase to $7.85.

The new minimum wage rate will become effective Jan. 1, according to a press release from the Missouri Department of Labor.

The minimum wage rate is calculated once each year. The wage fluctuates based on the cost of living as measured by the previous year’s Consumer Price Index.

Missouri law does not allow the state’s minimum wage rate to be lower than the federal minimum wage rate.
