Missouri Lawmaker Wants to Change Abortion Laws in the State

News

MISSOURI – A Missouri lawmaker wants to make abortion illegal after a fetal heartbeat is detected.

A House Committee heard testimony about the Bill Tuesday.

Republican Representative Nick Schroer shares why he’s in favor of the Bill.

The only exception to the bill would be in the case of a medical emergency.

Opponents say it would ban abortions before many women know they are pregnant.

Dr. Erin King, from St. Louis, testified saying the bill would put a near total ban on abortions in the state.

A similar law implemented in Iowa was recently overturned by that state’s supreme-court which deemed it unconstitutional.
