Missouri Department of Conservation expands ban on lead ammo in parts of the state

News

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department Of Conservation is expanding its ban on lead ammunition to more conservation areas across the state.

The department is banning lead ammunition because birds mistake small lead pellets for small stones which they eat to help grind their food. This exposure can be fatal to birds.

The department added 16 conservation areas to the list, bringing the total to 37.

You can find all the areas where led ammunition is allowed on the Department of Conservation website, here.
